NBA: Warriors secure their positions in the playoffs

The Golden State Warriors were able to secure 21-points and defeated the Utah Jazz on Saturday and secured a spot in the playoffs. The Warriors have moved up to the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference and lead the No. 4 Dallas Mavericks by a game.

Meanwhile, The Sports Eagle has gathered that the Atlanta Hawks were able to secure a huge win over the Brooklyn Nets in the East. Thanks to their win, Atlanta heads to the No. 8 seed while the Net settles on No.10. The Nets hitched their play-in-fate showing that they can no longer climb to the top six nor can they drop to the top 10.

Manchester United’s dreams of qualifying in the Champion League are shattered

Manchester United were held to a 1-1 Premier League tie by Leicester City at Old Trafford thanks to a late strike by midfielder Fred. Gary Neville: ‘If they keep playing like this, their next eight games will be challenging. So flat, in fact’.

Neville believes Manchester United’s faint prospects of qualifying for next season’s Champions League have been dashed after their lukewarm draw with Leicester.

When asked about United’s desire to finish the season quickly, Neville said his old club would prefer to go ‘under the radar,’ but their upcoming schedule means they can’t. Games against Everton, Liverpool, and Chelsea ensure that Ralf Rangnick’s ailing team has no place to hide.

Kelechi Iheanacho’s header from James Maddison’s cross gave United the lead on the day after Fred was taken advantage of on a counter-attack by the visitors.

Within three minutes of Bruno Fernandes’ initial strike, Fred had restored Leicester’s lead after Kasper Schmeichel had pushed out a rebound after the Argentine had shot from the edge of the box.

Raphael Varane was penalised for a foul on Maddison, but Scott McTominay could have been sent out for a high lunge on the Leicester playmaker.

It was a frustrating night for Manchester United, who are currently four points adrift of fourth-placed Arsenal and in serious danger of missing out on a place in the Champions League next season.

Fernandes said ‘Everyone gave all. Honestly, I don’t think there was a single player who didn’t give it their all. Nobody lacked ferocity in the room. We must continue to fight. We must, as I already stated, keep an eye on our own games’.

Neville was less than complimentary of United’s performance after the game since Cristiano Ronaldo was unable to play due to illness.

During a question and answer session on Saturday Night Football, when asked whether or not United were no longer in contention for the top four, he responded ‘That’s what I’m getting at. After the international break, the race began today. They had to get off to a winning start, but they couldn’t. There were a lot of flaws in today’s game because of the way it was drawn’.

‘For United, I thought the break would be beneficial for the players because I thought it would be good for them to get some time away from the club and then come back and give it their best effort.’For more latest sports updates, visit our site The Sports Eagle.
