Wits Leave It Late Against Celtic

Free State Stadium saw late Absa Premiership drama as Bidvest Wits overcame Bloemfontein Celtic on Sunday.  The Clever Boys turned out victorious as they bagged a late winner over Phunya Sele Sele.  There was a standing ovation before kick-off for Wits’ Moeneeb Josephs as he made his 400th appearance in the PSL.

Celtic started the game with good attacking skills but they were soon cut off.  Onismor Bhasera tried to get a cross through but his shot was cleared away.  As the water break approached, it was still 0-0 between Siwelele and Gavin Hunt’s side.

Too many touches were made by Hunt’s boys because they were held tight in the defence.  A great step over from Mukuka Mulenga produced an effort that just hit the cross bar.  The first half ended goalless.

The second half started at a slow pace as twenty minutes went by without any goals.  Buhle Mkhwanazi was given a yellow card in the 73rd minute.  Finally in the 85th minute the scoreboard was opened.

Ben Motshwari fired in a shot that put the Clever Boys in the lead and they would not relinquish that advantage.  After 90 minutes ended it was the Johannesburg club winning the three points and moving back up to third on the league log.
