Bidvest Wits beat Golden Arrows 3-2 when they went head to head at the Bidvest Wits stadium on Saturday in the Absa Premiership. The Clever Boys started attacking as soon as the game started. Phakamani Mahlambi attacked during the second minute but it was cleared.
Elias Pelembe took a shot at goal in the fourth minute but Maximilian Mbaeva saved it. Arrows came back in the 17th minute but Thulani Hlatshwayo made a good intervention by heading the ball away. In the 20th minute Sibusiso Vilakazi came back to attack but Maximilian Mbaeva was ready for him.
Wits continued searching for a goal but Mbaeva made sure that he played his part. In the 30th minute Abafana Bes’thende came back but Kudakwashe Mahachi’s shot was wide. Both teams played very well and in the 38th minute Vilakazi scored what could have been the opening goal but it was considered offside and they went to half-time while the score was still 0-0.
The second half started with Henrico Botes replacing Elias Pelembe. Gavin Hunt’s men were attacking but Mbaeva continued denying them. In the 52nd minute Deon Hotto headed a ball and scored the first goal of the match.
After that the visitors started picking up and tried to attack. Both teams went back and forth trying to score. In the 73rd minute Mahlambi scored the equaliser after receiving a ball from Diane Klate. Three minutes after that Mabhudi Khanyeza scored another goal for Arrows to make it 2-1.
In the 80th minute the game totally changed as Mbaeva received a red card after touching the ball outside his box. Hotto was replaced by Ricardo Goss. Klate took the freekick and equalised in the 85th minute. A minute later Klate scored what would be the winning goal.
After the match Klate said: ‘It was a good team performance. I was out of the game for 70 minutes but then came back and I am happy to have contributed in getting us the three points.’
