West Ham United condemned Liverpool to a third defeat in four English Premier League outings after a 3-1 win at Upton Park on Saturday. The Hammerstook an early lead with a Winston Reid goal after just two minutes. It did not take long for Sakho Diafra to give the hosts an extended advantage with a chip from the corner of the box that looped into the back of the net.
Mario Balotelli and Adrian Durham failed to register their names on the score sheet but managed to receive yellow cards in the 17th minute. The Reds continued pressing looking for a goal and Raheem Sterling drove a volley into the corner and gave Liverpool hope going into the second half. Brendan Rodgers’ men had an impressive start to the second half but with nothing to show for it.
Morgan Amalfitano finished off Liverpool’s dreams on 80 minutes to hand Sam Allardyce’s side all three points.
