The Waratahs recorded their second win of the Super Rugby tournament with a 15-13 victory over the Reds in their encounter at the Suncorp Stadium on Sunday. The hosts opened the scoring through a penalty try in the 12th minute after a dominant scrum display thus taking a 7-0 lead. The Tahs reduced the deficit six minutes later when Israel Folau went over for their first try which was set in motion from a scrum.
The Sydneysiders later went ahead with a Folau double as the fullback dotted down for a spectacular try against the run of play to head into the half-time break leading 12-7. In the second stanza despite going a man down early on, the home side edged ahead 13-12 with two penalties on the bounce from Jake McIntyre after some indiscipline from the visitors. In the closing stages both sides seemed to lose their concentration as they were losing possession and allowed a few errors to creep in.
Despite that the New South Welshmen managed to pull off a 15-13 victory with a late Bernard Foley penalty. The result propels the men in blue to seventh place on the Australasian log with the Queenslanders back in 10th place.
