USA’s Stars And Stripes

The United States of America will be making their tenth appearance at a FIFA World Cup™. Nicknamed the Stars and Stripes, the Americans first appeared at the 1930 edition in Uruguay where they reached the semi-finals. In 2014, the Americans find themselves in Group G alongside Germany, Ghana and Portugal.

After a 40 year absence, Team USA returned to the FIFA World Cup™ at Italia 90.  Their performance was hardly spectacular as they finished 23rd out of 24 teams.  Four years later the USA hosted the tournament and reached the Second Round where they were eliminated by eventual champions Brazil.  Their improvement was confirmed in 2002 when they reached the quarter-finals.  In 2010 the Yanks reached the Second Round where Ghana emerged victorious after extra time.

Jurgen Klinsmann is the head coach and has already masterminded victories over world powers like Germany (4-3) and Italy (1-0).  Klinsmann will call on the likes of Brad Davis, Michael Bradley and the evergreen Landon Donovan in a group of death featuring the Germans, Ghanaians and Portuguese.
