The Cape Town University Derby saw UCT play out a 3-3 draw UWC at Green Mile on Monday in an entertaining Varsity Football clash. With a lot of chances created by both teams, the sides seemed to be having problems with finding the perfect finishes. The University of Cape Town finally opened the scoring when Charlie Mbatha finished off to hand his side the lead.
An unorganised UCT defence saw the University of the Western Cape punish them unexpectedly. An equaliser followed a few minutes later from Curtley Beukes before a lethal strike from Michael Salgado saw UCT return to the front of the contest just before half time. The second half had been played for just under 10 minutes when UWC got a corner that saw them net an equaliser thanks to a header from Keenan Davis.
UWC put up a real fight when Reza Dramat scored the third goal and put them in the lead. Late drama in this derby occurred when UCT found a late equaliser to make it 3-3.
