The University Of Pretoria achieved a much-needed win by defeating Chippa United 3-0 in the Absa Premiership at Tuks Stadium on Saturday. Tristyn Coetsee put AmaTuks under pressure in the early stages with some poor clearances, but the shotstopper managed to redeem himself with a couple of saves. Chippa failed to take the lead in the 15th minute but Aristide Bance fired straight at Coetsee from six-yards out, after being left unmarked by the Tuks defence.
Shaun Bartlett’s boys broke the deadlock in the 34th minute, as an unmarked Willem Mwedihanga sent a looping header into the far corner from 12 yards out. Bartlett’s charges were solid enough to hold on to their one-goal lead at the half-time break. The home side then doubled their advantage in the 60th minute, as Thabo Mosadi broke through on goal and calmly slotted past Daniel Akpeyi.
Getaneh Kebede managed to register his name on the score sheet in the 70th minute, as the midfielder tapped home from close range after Thabo Mnyamane’s effort was blocked. The Chilli Boys were far from impressive in the second half, as they struggled to create clear cut openings in the final third and suffered for it.
