Tottenham Hotspur beat Crystal Palace 1-0 at White Hart Lane in the English Premier League on Sunday. This victory puts the north London team in the top half of the table. In the first half Spurs dominated ball possession which seemed to trouble Palace’s defence but even though the hosts controlled the tempo of the game, it was the Eagles who came close to scoring twice.
The first superb save was by Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris as Bakary ?Sakho took a stunning free kick in the 34th minute which was headed for the top corner. This forced Lloris to make an acrobatic save. The second chance came when Yohan Cabaye blasted a near-perfect shot that went directly to the post.
In the second half both teams were looking more confident but could there be a breakthrough? Spurs looked the better team and duly made a mark on the scoreboard when Christian Eriksen passed the ball into space to Son Heung-Min who hit a powerful shot that went through Alex McCarthy’s legs and into the net. This win sees Mauricio Pochettino’s players move into the top half of the table, now on nine points from six games.
As for the south London side, they are still in the top half of the table in eighth position.
