Swansea & West Ham Fire Blanks

Swansea City and West Ham United played to a goalless English Premier League draw at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday.  The Hammers met the wounded Swans, who have not won at home in three months.  The dreary encounter had snippets of joyous moments for either side but in the end no goals came of any of their attempts.

The two sides were at each other’s throats from the word go but none of their attempts were fruitful.  Michail Antonio caused a lot of havoc for the home side.  In the 28th minute his dangerous low cross was deflected away from danger.  In the 32nd minute Alex Song got on his bike to set up Mauro Zarate with the latter unleashing a venomous strike from 25-yards but the keeper was alert.

Despite numerous attempts by either side, both teams failed to score inside the first 45.  Shortly after the restart, the hosts were on the back foot as they constantly flirted with danger.  In the 60th minute,  Adrián produced a superb save to keep Slaven Bilic’s boys in the game.

In the latter stages of the match, the home side regrouped and showed composure with each one of their attacks.  In the 79th minute, Adrián again came to the rescue of the London club, this time denying Bafétimbi Gomis.  Try as they did, both sides fired blanks in south Wales.

The draw puts more pressure on the relegation-threatened Swans as their horrific home record continues.
