Moroka Swallows battled to a 3-2 win over Polokwane City at Dobsonville Stadium, Soweto on Tuesday night to secure three valuable Absa Premiership points. Both teams were going to the match looking to get back to winning ways. In the fifth minute the offside flag was raised against Vuyisile Wana but the replay showed the player was onside.
The Dube Birds continued to attack. Lerato Chabangu scored the opener with a great header between the two defenders in the 27th minute. Chabangu’s third goal of the season came after a great cross from Siyabonga Nomvethe.
Polokwane captain Thapelo Tshilo scored a headed goal in the 30th minute to level matters. Two minutes later Puleng Tlolane with the second goal but Swallows hit back in the 44th minute just before half-time as Wana slotted the ball into the goal. A highly entertaining half ended 2-2.
In the second half both teams played an open game as they were trying to go for the kill. Zeca Marques’ side were dominating using their home advantage as they wanted to maintained their good start to the campaign. In the 81st minute Chabangu grabbed his second goal with a right foot finish as Swallows took a crucial 3-2 lead over the visitors.
Chabangu’s second was sufficient to complete a 3-2 win for Marques’ men who find themselves in third position on the early league table.
