SuperSport United beat Bidvest Wits 2-1 in the Telkom Knockout quarter-finals in Johannesburg on Saturday. Dove Wome caught everyone by surprise when he scored the first goal for Matsatsantsa as early as the second minute of the game. Siyabonga Nhlapo received a yellow card for foul play thereafter.
Christopher Katongo who was assisted by Henrico Botes scored the first goal for Wits to level matters. The Namibian’s corner then set up a potential second but there would be no score. Katongo received a yellow card in the last minute of the half as the sides went to the break level at 1-1.
Dino Ndlovu tried to find a way past Moeneeb Josephs, but the former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper blocked the ball. Lebogang Manyama scored the second goal for the visitors. Manyama kicked the ball to the left corner of the goal posts in what would prove to be the winner for Gordon Igesund’s men.
A lot of substitutes where made in the last minutes but failed to change the match situation. SuperSport won the game 2-1 to progress to the final four.
