The Sunrisers Hyderabad won by 7 runs against the Rajasthan Royals on Thursday in the Indian Premier League. Shane Watson won the toss and elected to bowl first. The opening pair, David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan looked to have got off to the perfect start for the Royals but Watson dismissed Warner for 24 runs in the fifth over.
Moises Henriques followed when he was clean bowled for 20 by Pravin Tambe. Dhawan brought up his 33-ball half-century in the 14th over, but lost his wicket to a brilliant James Faulkner delivery. In the last four overs of the innings, Morgan played some extraordinary shots as he scored a quick 23-ball half century.
Morgan was the last man to be dismissed as the Sunrisers’ innings ended with them setting a target of 202. The Royals got their run chase off to a horrible start as Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck early by removing Ajinkya Rahane for 8 runs in the first over. The skipper Watson followed when he was caught over mid-on for 12 runs.
With Paddy Upton’s side in dire need of runs, they seem to be losing wickets too easily, as Karn Sharma removed Deepak Hooda for 7 in the 11th over. Steve Smith gave the crowd something to cheer about when he scored his half century off a six, but his innings came to an end when Ravi Bopara dismissed him for 64 runs. The Sunrises lost two more wickets in the latter stages of their innings; those of Faulkner for 30 and Kumar for 21 as they fell seven runs short of the target.
