A partnership of 82 between David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan helped Sunrisers Hyderabad kick-start a successful chase against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday in the Indian Premier League. Sunrisers won the toss and put Bangalore to bat first. Virat Kohli’s men had 43 runs on the board before the first wicket fell. Chris Gayle (21) was dismissed by Prayeen Kumar (2-34).
The second wicket, Dinesh Karthik (41) was taken by Karn Sharma. The home team had no partnership over a half-century. Sunrisers were successful in both taking the wickets and in chasing the target.
Trent Boult (3/36) was the pick of the bowlers dismissing AB De Villiers, Sean Abbott and Harshal Patel. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Prayeen Kimar and Ravi Bopara each took two wickets as the hosts ended with 166 all out (19.5 overs). With a target of 167 Warner’s men did exceedingly well.
They succeeded in a run chase and won by 8 wickets. Dhawan facilitated in a brilliant chase. He started off with an outstanding performance with Warner and maintained form until the target was met.
Dhawan managed to score a half-century off 42 balls. The top on the chart however was Warner with 57. Yuzvendra Chahal took both wickets of Warner and Kane Williamson (5). Lokesh Rahul (44) and Dhawan reached the target with 16 balls to spare. Sunrisers will feel the have redeemed themselves after their defeat against Chennai Super Kings.
