Stormers Sweep Cheetahs Aside

The Stormers ran in four unanswered tries to comprehensively crush the Cheetahs 33-0 in their Vodacom Super Rugby encounter on Saturday at Newlands.  The DHL Stormers got on the scoreboard early launching a strong driving maul to get Deon Fourie over for a try.  The visitors were reduced to 14 men where their captain was sin binned for a tip tackle on Kobus Van Wyk.

Allister Coetzee’s men extended their lead to 8-0 when Kurt Coleman slotted over a penalty and took it one step further with another try before half time from Van Wyk who spotted a gap in the Toyota Cheetahs defence and took advantage of it.  The men from Cape Town went into the half-time break leading 15-0 after a dominant performance.

The home side continued their dominance by scoring another two penalties from Coleman and Peter Grant respectively and two tries from Siya Kolisi, provided by Damian De Allende, and Sailosi Tagicakibau who latched on to a mistake from Willie Le Roux to secure a bonus point as they ran out 33-0 winners and moved up to 11th position on the overall log.  The man of the match award went to De Allende.
