Tottenham Hotspur extended its unbeaten run to 10 games after defeating Aston Villa 3-1 during their English Premier League clash on Monday, in London. Mousa Dembele opened the scoring in the third minute, giving his team a perfect start. It was Deli Alli who then doubled the Spurs advantage.
Jordan Ayew also managed to score a consolation goal for the Villans before Harry Kane finished things off with the third and final goal for the hosts. It was a fast-paced half with Mauricio Pochettino’s men leading the race. Dembele went on a dazzling run before he reached the goal post and then placed a wonderful finish to ensure a 1-0 lead.
The home side made the final minute of the half count. Danny Rose crossed from the left and the ball was met by Joleon Lescott who tried to head it away, but his header fell straight to Alli just inside the penalty area. The Englishman brought the ball down and then volleyed it low through the onrushing Villa defenders to make it 2-0 at the break.
The second half was almost the same as the first one,with a total of two goals produced. This time around ,it was the visitors who scored first. In the 80th minute, Ayew pulled a goal back for the Birmingham club with a deflected shot. In added time, England striker Kane managed to score the third goal from a counter attack.
He had a lot of work to do and was under a lot of pressure but was able to curl the ball expertly into the top corner. Pochettino’s players move to fifth place while Aston Villa are firmly at the bottom.
