The Premier Soccer League (PSL) CEO, Brand De Villiers has announced that the Absa Premiership Soweto derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs which was scheduled for Saturday, 01 November 2014 has been postponed. This follows a request by Orlando Pirates for a postponement in the wake of passing on of club captain and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa. De Villiers said, “We received a request from Orlando Pirates this morning to have the postponement of this weekend’s fixture and this request was granted by the League. On behalf of the PSL, we would like to once again convey our heartfelt condolences to Orlando Pirates family and Senzo Meyiwa’s family during this difficult and tragic moment.”
The PSL CEO confirmed that other Absa Premiership fixtures scheduled for this weekend will go ahead as planned. The PSL will announce the new date for this fixture in due course.
