Suné Luus took a career-best 5/20 to lead South Africa’s Women to a three-wicket victory over Pakistan at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday. This win sees the three-match series levelled with the decider to take place on Tuesday. Pakistan was restricted to 133 thanks to Luus and Shabnim Ismail, who claimed an impressive 3/15 in her nine-over spell, including four maidens.
The hosting skipper, Sana Mir was the top run scorer with an unbeaten 35 runs, with Javeria Khan scoring 34 to wrap up their most notable performances after winning the toss and electing to bat first. South Africa also seemed to struggle with the bat. Anam Amin took consecutive wickets at the start of the fifth over, removing Nadine Moodley and Bernadine Bezuidenhout for 10 and none respectively.
Captain, Mignon Du Preez (pictured) was dismissed for eight before Trisha Chetty (33) and Lizelle Lee (28) shared the 47-run, fourth-wicket partnership that put the visitors on course for victory. Dané Van Niekerk (34*) and Luus (12) added another 36 runs between them for the sixth wicket to get their side to victory. The series decider will take place at the same ground on Tuesday.
