South Africa’s Men Crushed By New Zealand At Hockey World Cup

Greenfields stadium saw the group stage clash between South Africa and New Zealand at the Hockey World Cup on Tuesday.  On this occasion South Africa’s men suffered a devastating 5-0 loss.  The New Zealanders started the game with a no holds barred attitude as they showed that they meant business.

Simon Child opened the scoring four minutes into the game.  South Africa managed to take a shot at goal which went wide thereafter.  The 15th minute of the game saw Andy Hayward score another goal for the Black Sticks.

A follow up shot at goal for the South Africans saw their attempt go wide.  Hayward caused further damage when he scored his second goal in the 17th minute and making it goal number three for the Kiwis.  With no shots on target for South Africa, their hopes of getting a goal were being diminished by the second.

With multiple shots at goal taken for New Zealand they showed that they wanted to finish the game with pure domination.  The game ended on a high for the New Zealanders when they managed to get two more goals before stoppage time.  The final score was 5-0 with the South Africans very much second best on this occasion.
