South Africa went down 2-1 to Argentina in their first match at the Junior Davis Cup by BNP PARIBAS Finals being played in San Luis Potosi, Mexico on Tuesday. The singles rubbers finished with both sides having a win setting it up for a doubles finale. Genaro Oliveiri beat Damon Kesaris 6-3, 6-2 before the South Africans hit back courtesy of Calvin Jordaan’s 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 win over Manuel Lopez.
Jordaan then teamed up with Richard Thongoana but the pair fell 6-2, 6-2 to Oliveiri and Lopez. In other results, USA crushed Chinese Taipei 3-0, Japan defeated Sweden 2-1, Korea ousted Mexico 2-1, Brazil thrashed Egypt 3-0, Germany beat Bolivia 2-1 and Italy overcame Estonia 2-1.
