The 2013 Singapore Formula One Grand Prix will take place at the Marina Bay Street Circuit on Sunday and promises to be a spectacular event. It has all the elements making for an exciting race as it is regarded as one of the most difficult tracks on the calendar and also staged at night under floodlights. The street-circuit has 23 corners and with temperatures expected to touch 30 degrees Celsius, the drivers will have their work cut out. To top it all off rain is expected throughout the weekend.
We can expect things to heat up even further on the grid as the Silver Arrows battle it out for the Drivers’ Championship. With only 22 points between Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton and only six races left in the season, there is no margin for error. Expected to lead the chasing pack would be the Red Bull team with Daniel Ricciardo showing a lot of promise by regularly outperforming his team mate and 2013 winner in Singapore, Sebastian Vettel. The Red Bull team is also very confident about their chances at Marina Bay and they expect the track to suit their car well. Ferrari will start a new chapter this weekend after the departure of chairman Luca de Montezemolo and has also indicated that they’ll be focussing on the 2015-car, while we can expect Williams and McLaren to keep pushing for podium positions.
This past week also saw the FIA restricting the communication between the pits and the drivers relating to car performance. We don’t know what impact this might have on certain drivers, but it will be interesting to follow the radio communication with these new rules in place.
I believe we can expect a thrilling race and with all the different factors at play, any result is possible.
