Sibusiso Vilakazi netted a hat-trick as Bidvest Wits dished out a 4-2 beating to Ajax Cape Town in Wednesday night’s Absa Premiership clash at the Bidvest Stadium. The Clever Boys made their intentions clear from the early minutes of the match. Sibusiso Vilakazi gave his side the opening goal after Vincent Pule’s assist.
Thulani Hlatshwayo put Wits further ahead just before the break after he put the ball in the back of the net in the 41st minute. The Urban Warriors pulled one back in the 62nd minute with a Nazeer Allie goal. Wits restored their two-goal advantage on the 70-minute mark.
Vilakazi was the hero again beating goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola to complete his brace after an assist from Namibian veteran Henrico Botes. Ajax continued to press down for a goal and luck was on their side In the 82nd minute they were rewarded with a penalty for a handball.
Noah Sadaoui made no mistake and slotted it passed the goalkeeper to ensure a thrilling final few minutes. However there would be no fairytale comeback for Roger De Sa’s side as Vilakazi sealed the win for the hosts when he completed his hat-trick to ensure he would be going home with the match ball as Gavin Hunt’s charges moved up to second spot on the log.
