Sharks Name Match Day Squad For Pumas Clash

Team Release

Sharks coach Brad MacLeod-Henderson has named his match day squad for the Absa Currie Cup clash against the Pumas at Mbombela Stadium on Friday.  MacLeod-Henderson has opted to keep SP Marais, Odwa Ndungane and Tonderai Chavhanga as his back three with S’bura Sithole and Paul Jordaan in the middle.  Fred Zeilinga will be at fly-half but Conrad Hoffmann comes in at scrum-half.

“The Pumas have done very well; they’re a strong prospect at home and unbeaten in Nelspruit this season.  There are things they would have learnt about us from our first round game, and things we will recall from their game.  Our drive worked very well against them so they will probably put some work into trying to stop that,” said MacLeod-Henderson.  Tera Mtembu will once again skipper the Cell C Sharks with Francois Kleynhans and Jacques Botes completing the loose trio.  The front row consists of Dale Chadwick, Kyle Cooper and Matt Stevens with Etienne Oosthuizen and JC Astle wrapping up the tight five.

The Sharks saw off the Steval Pumas 34-17 in Durban two weeks ago and MacLeod-Henderson is hoping for a similar story this time around, “We played with some nice width and created some opportunities on the outside, so they will be looking to shore up the drive and defensively make sure there are no opportunities on the outside.”  The match kicks off at 19:10 and the replacements bench looks as follows:

16. Franco Marais
17. Lourens Adriaanse
18. Stephan Lewies
19. Johan Meyer
20. Cameron Wright
21. Heimar Williams
22. Lionel Cronje
