Negotiations for a sizzling bout between WBC middleweight Champion, Miguel Cotto against Mexican, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, are taking an upbeat upturn. Cotto´s legal adviser, Gabriel Peñagarícano, commented to EL VOCERO from Puerto Rico, that even though there’s no agreement yet, there have been some great advances in order to make this bout possible during the first semester of 2015. “We are still talking, but there is no agreement … yet. There is a lot of movement and flexibility from all people involved,” Peñagaricano commented.
“Here we are working with people that are friends of ours. So we are already talking about all aspects, including the financial structure. We can say that we are up to 60% in the negotiations, mainly because Golden Boy and Canelo had shown flexibility.”
