An unbeaten stand of 64 runs between Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson helped the Rajasthan Royals to a six wicket Indian Premier League (IPL) win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Visakhapatnam on Thursday. The defending champions won the toss and put the Sunriseres in to bat. David Warner’s men had a bad start, losing its first wicket with only 25 runs on the board.
Shikhar Dhawan (10) top-edged one off the bowling of a Dhawal Kulkarni ( 2/9) delivery. A short downfall occurred on 35 runs where Hyderabad lost two wickets quick wickets; Warner (21) and Rahul (2), as they found themselves on 35/3. However help came when Naman Ojha (25) and Eoin Morgan (27) put on a fourth wicket stand of 52 runs.
Ravi Bopara (23 not out) and Ashish Reddy (19 not out) held a partnership of 42 until the end of the innings with the Sunrisers ending on 127/5. The champions managed to successfully chase the target with Rahane (62) and Sanju’s (26) partnership of 64 runs setting the pace. Bopara took two wickets – that of Sanju (26) and Karun Nair (1) while Karn Sharma and Trent Boult only took one wicket each as the Royals finished on 131/4 to claim the victory off the last ball of the innings.
