Proteas-Black Caps Third ODI Abandoned

The third One Day International between South Africa and New Zealand in Hamilton at Seddon Park on Monday was abandoned after rain ruined the contest.  The Black Caps won the toss and sent the Proteas in to bat.  Quinton De Kock and Hashim Amla posted 33 runs before Amla fell at the end of the sixth over for 12.

The South African Test captain was caught by Nathan McCullum off Matt Henry.  Rilee Rossouw’s awful luck on the international stage continued when he was dismissed for a fourth duck in six ODI innings thanks to a caught and bowled effort by Henry (2/40).  David Miller lasted 29 balls for his 17 before he was bowled by James Neesham (1/19).

AB De Villiers had made his way to 33 off 37 deliveries while Amla was on 80 from 94 when the heavens opened.  The tourists were on 157/3 after 30.4 overs and play would not resume.  The South Africans win the series 3-0 and move on to a five ODI, three T20 tour of Australia next.  The first T20 takes place in Adelaide on Wednesday, 5 November.
