Platinum Stars’ Dikwena

Platinum Stars have evolved over the years in terms of name and nickname.  Silver Stars became Platinum Stars nearly a decade ago and have changed nicknames from The Tycoons, to Dinaledi, to the current moniker Dikwena.  Stars play their home games at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Phokeng near Rustenburg.  The Stadium holds 42 000.

Coach Allan Freese will once again take charge and aiming to take the club beyond last season’s eight place finish in the Absa Premiership.  Freese did deliver the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout trophies last term.  For the coming season, Ndumiso Mabena, Lantshene Phalane, Mwenya Chiwe and Gift Sithole are among the new faces in Phokeng.

The season starts with a trip to Port Elizabeth to face Chippa United on August 8th but the week before Stars must meet Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 at Loftus on Saturday the 2nd of August.
