Robert Ng’ambi struck twice to help Platinum Stars bag maximum points against Ajax Cape Town at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday night in a lively Absa Premiership encounter. The two sides were fierce in their attacks from the onset signalling a tight encounter. Tashreeq Morris came close to finding an opener early in the match but the keeper was alert.
That miss would come to haunt the Urban Warriors in the 12th minute when Ng’ambi put Stars in front with a superb chest finish. The match took flight after the goal was scored with Roger De Sa’s men seeing much of the ball and they were rewarded for their efforts. Erwin Isaacs levelled matters with a superb finish in the 27th minute.
Neither side managed to put their noses in front by the break as the score remained 1-1. Tlou Segolela was denied by a great Anssi Jaakkola save in the 58th minute as the two sides remained inseparable heading to the hour mark. Jaakkola was called for rescue business again in the 61st minute, this time denying Mogakolodi Ngele.
The Finnish shot stopper produced a series of great saves to ensure his side stayed in the game. Ng’ambi netted his second of the evening in the 85th minute to make it 2-1. Cavin Johnson’s charges held on to their lead to record a much-needed win.
