Orlando Pirates have grabbed a second consecutive win in the Absa Premiership after beating Bloemfontein Celtic 1-0 at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday evening. Both sides took it easy in the beginning stages of the match and showed respect towards one another. They went for goals a bit later in the first half but the goalkeepers were on form making it difficult for either team to score.
Pirates had taken more shots on goal than their opponents but could not find the back of the net. The first 45 minutes of the match ended goalless and the pressure was on for both teams to bring their A game into the second half. Celtic came alive in the second half but failed to score on many occasions and their moment of shakiness in the defence was what led to the only goal of the match.
The away side conceded a free kick just outside the box in a very dangerous area. The freekick was taken by Mpho Makola in the 47th minute and his shot took a deflection from the wall before it went into the back of the net. Thapelo Morena almost scored a few minutes later for Phunya Sele Sele but his shot hit the upright and the away team continued trying to make matters level but they just could not find the goal that they needed to salvage a point from the match.
The spectators at the stadium were extremely violent with each other and unruly during stoppage time. They were damaging the plastic chairs and throwing objects at each other as well as onto the pitch, unfortunately ending the night on a bad note for Siwelele as well as those who were injured.
