The Sharks have named its match day squad for the Vodacom Super Rugby visit of the Crusaders on Saturday in Durban. Director of Rugby Gary Gold has gone with SP Marais, Odwa Ndungane and Lwazi Mvovo as his back three with JP Pietersen and Andre Esterhuizen in the midfield. Patrick Lambie will captain the Cell C Sharks with Cobus Reinach feeding from the scrum.
Ryan Kankowski, Jean Deysel and Marcell Coetzee form the loose trio. Marco Wentzel and Mouritz Botha will scrum down behind Jannie Du Plessis, Kyle Cooper and Tendai Mtawarira. Gold says: ‘The Crusaders are a fantastic team, loaded with All Blacks. They have not won this competition as many times as they have by accident. They can never be taken lightly and we all know what a dangerous side they are when they hit their straps. It’s fantastic to play against a team of this quality; every team wants to be measured against the best. We are confident with our group of players and are excited about the match-up this weekend.’
The Sharks have teamed up with the Organ Donor Foundation of South Africa to raise awareness and promote the need for organ donation. To launch this initiative, the KZN franchise will be wearing a limited edition jersey for their match against the Saders. After the match these jerseys will be auctioned to raise funds for the project.
