Orlando Pirates advanced to the MTN8 final after beating Bidvest Wits 3-1 at the Orlando Stadium thanks to Lehlohonolo Majoro’s brace and a Kermit Erasmus strike on Saturday. Wits started the game very brightly as they wanted to overturn the 2-0 aggregate deficit from the first leg. Vincent Pule had the first chance of the game but his effort went wide.
The visitors continued to press for a goal as Buhlebuyeza Mkhwanazi headed the ball wide of the mark after a corner kick. Pirates would only wake up towards the end of the first stanza with Kermit Erasmus proving to be a major threat in front of goal. Amos Ngcobo would have handed the away side a goal in the 46th minute however he failed to hit the target.
Seven minutes into to the second half the Buccaneers took the lead through Erasmus after he took on the Clever Boys defence before he scored. Getaneh Kebede levelled matters for the visitors from the spot after Rooi Mahamutsa fouled him in the box. Majoro would eventually grab his long awaited first goal in Bucs colours with a sublime volley.
Not content with one, Majoro would underline Pirates’ passage to the final with another fine lob to make it 3-1 and 5-1 on aggregate as Vladimir Vermezovic’s men stormed into the MTN8 final. Oupa Manyisa’s missed a penalty would ultimately make no dfference.
