Oupa Manyisa and Thabo Rakhale goals helped Orlando Pirates edge Mpumalanga Black Aces 2-1 in the Absa Premiership in Soweto on Wednesday. The visitors had the first chance of the match but Collins Mbesuma blasted his effort wide off the mark. After that Mbesuma chance the Buccaneers woke up as Happy Jele set up Lehlohonolo Majoro but he missed a glorious chance.
In the 25th minute Majoro again would fail to give the hosts the lead as he blasted the side netting that kept the scoreline even. Eric Tinkler’s men continued to be wasteful in front of goal as Mpho Mvelase, who was making his debut since he joined from Chippa United failed to score in a one-on-one situation as Jackson Mabokgwane kept the striker at bay. The hosts would eventually take the lead courtesy of Manyisa from the spot after Thandani Ntshumayelo was brought down in the box.
At half-time it was 1-0 to Pirates. The Soweto giants took a giant step as Rakhale doubled the advantage with delightful effort from 20 yards. The visitors responded with Tendai Ndoro converting a spot kick and the game ended 2-1 in favour of the Sea Robbers.
