Nico Rosberg secured a home town hat-trick when he finished in front of Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton in the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday. Hamilton was brilliant off the line which saw him enjoy the lead for most of the race. Pastor Maldonado of Lotus was the first man to retire.
It seemed to be another disappointing weekend for Fernando Alonso of McLaren as he was penalised for a collision he caused on Nico Hulkenburg of Force India in the beginning of the race. Therafter, Alonso had to retire in the 43rd lap. A brilliant drive by Daniil Kvyat of Red Bull saw him finish fourth in front of team mate Daniel Ricciardo in the second Red Bull.
Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari claimed sixth place ahead of Mexican Sergio Perez and Jensen Button. Felipe Nasr of Sauber finished in ninth place followed by a well-deserved 10th place by Carlos Sainz Jnr of Toro Rosso to complete the scorers list. After a brilliant qualifying session, Hamilton was doing everything right as he dominated the race at ease.
A misjudged called by the Mercedes engineers during the safety car period, saw Rosberg and Vettel pass Hamilton, who could have won the race easily, as Rosberg managed to hold of Vettel to finish first.
