Mercedes AMG Petronas driver and Laureus Ambassador Nico Rosberg has said he must ‘push hard’ if he is to catch his team-mate Lewis Hamilton, as the Formula One season moves to Monza on Sunday for the Italian Grand Prix. Rosberg, speaking at the Laureus Formula One Charity Night in Milan said: ‘Again we have an amazing car, Mercedes have given us the best car, so it’s a great battle between Lewis and I. With Monza we are coming towards the end of the European season. We have eight races to go and Lewis is 28 points in front of me, so I must push hard as I am trying to close that gap to have a chance of the title. It’s great to be here. Part of me is Italian, also all my friends are Italian and I speak Italian. I love driving here. The track is legendary, our car is quick anywhere so we have a great chance to win.’
Through the #DriveForGood campaign, Mercedes-Benz is donating €100 for every racing kilometre that Rosberg leads during the Formula One World Championship. He has currently earned €66,000 for Laureus from the 660 kilometres he has led, going in to Monza.
