CYCLE SAFETY and RULES OF THE ROAD
While certain roads have been closed during the Championship event, Cycling SA appeals to all participants to remain vigilant and cognisant of the fact that the other roads serve as alternative routes, and that there are residents and businesses that require those roads to continue their daily activities. We urge you to ride responsibly and within the yellow line and adhere to the rules of the road for your own safety and for those around you whilst on your training rides. This particularly applies to the TT venue in Wartburg/Noodsberg/Harburg farming area where tractors and vehicles are using the road as part of their daily business function. We appeal to you as cyclists, team managers and crew to remain polite to the locals and fellow road users in the lead up and during to the 2016 SA National Road, Time Trial and Para-cycling Championships.
President of KwaZulu-Natal Cycling, Greg Stedman, says: ‘“KwaZulu-Natal has been fortunate to host a number of high profile cycling events over the past few years. This has been largely thanks to our partnership with the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Sports and Recreation. This partnership has been extremely beneficial to the sport of cycling in KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa. We have benefited from being able to host these prestigious events in KwaZulu-Natal and raise the profile of our sports men and women, being able to attend these events in their home country and province.’
