Pitso Mosimane and Mamelodi Sundowns were in the firing line of the Premier Soccer League’s Disciplinary Committee. Mosimane and Sundowns were charged with bringing the League and its Sponsors into disrepute pursuant to comments made by Mosimane on television on 21 February after a match against Ajax Cape Town. Mosimane was sentenced to a fine of R60 000 and the club to a fine of R30 000 suspended in total for a period of 12 months.
In addition, Mosimane was ordered to address a letter of apology to the match official involved as well as the League. Both parties were ordered to pay the costs of the sitting.
Meanwile, John Comitis and FC Cape Town were also charged with bringing the League and its Sponsors into disrepute pursuant to comments attributed to Comitis on 10 February on a football website. Judgment has been reserved.
