Moroka Swallows moved to the top of the mini-league table after beating Black Leopards 2-0 in the PSL Promotion Play-offs on Wednesday. Both teams were struggling to dominate possession in the early stages of the game, but Leopards proved to look more threatening in their attack as the game went on. Maboke Matlakala had a brilliant chance to put his side ahead in the 27th minute, but his shot went well wide of the target.
Soon after, Siphelele Ntshangase broke the Swallows defence only for his ferocious shot on target to be parried away to safety by the keeper. Vuyisile Wana finally broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute with an easy tap-in as the half ended 1-0 in favour of the home side. After the interval, Lidoda Duvha tested Shane Stephens with a long range shot which flashed over the cross bar.
The hosts held firm against Leopards’ attack and managed to stop them from equalising. Matlakala had a chance to score in the 70th minute but saw his effort go wide of goal. Wana struck back with immediate effect to complete his brace in the 81st minute with a low right-footed shot as the game ended with the Dube Birds winning 2-0 against former coach Zeca Marques.
