University of Pretoria came from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Moroka Swallows in an Absa Premiership match at Tuks Stadium in Pretoria on Tuesday night. Vuyisile Wana broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute as he got on the end of a precise pass from Siyabonga Nomvethe and curled a wonderful effort past Washington Arubi. The visitors retreated and looked to defend their lead but Amatuks pushed forward looking for the equaliser.
They had to wait until five minutes into the second half but eventually found a way past the visitors’ stingy defence. Geoffrey Massa flicked a clever pass on before Atusaye Nyondo coolly slotted the ball into the back of the net for his seventh goal of the season. Both teams continued to push for a winner late on with Massa coming close but there was to be no more goals as the teams shared the spoils.
The relegation bug just got stronger for the Dube Birds. The point sees them rise to 15th on the log but a win for Free State Stars on Wednesday will leave them with a lot do if they are to avoid the drop this season. The home team remain in 10th position and look to have secured their top flight status for next season.
