Wing Michele Visentin has been called up to Italy’s Rugby World Cup squad after centre Andrea Masi was ruled out of the rest of the 2015 Rugby World Cup. Masi’s World Cup ended because of a subcutaneous rupture of his achilles tendon in his left leg, suffered on Saturday against France at Twickenham. Visentin, who has been capped once by his country, has joined up with his Azzurri teammates ahead of Saturday’s second Pool D match against Canada at Elland Road, Leeds.
The 23-year old made his debut in the national team in February, at Murrayfield against Scotland. The Italians fell 32-10 to France in their opening World Cup match last Saturday. Jacques Brunel’s boys are also pooled with Ireland and Romania. The Canadians were soundly beaten 50-7 by the Irish in Cardiff in their opening match.
