Danie Marais Excited To Take On The Inaugural Sanlam Cape Mile

Top South African open water swimmer Danie Marais will be seen in action at the inaugural Sanlam Cape Mile on Saturday, 14 February 2015 at the picturesque Eikenhof Dam (Grabouw Country Club, Western Cape).  Marais was introduced to the sport of swimming at the tender age of four.   “My parents introduced me to the sport.  My mother was also a Springbok swimmer.  I train twice a day for two hours a session seven days a week.  I recommend the sport of swimming because it teaches you discipline and results in a healthy lifestyle.  My advice to newcomers to the sport is to give your best at all times, never hold back.  On race day try to remain relaxed and definitely eat something before the time.  I eat a banana before I race and a Powerbar Recovery afterwards.  I am really looking forward to being in Cape Town and would love to finish first at the Sanlam Cape Mile”.

Taking place at the Eikenhof Dam at the Grabouw Country Club (Western Cape) on Saturday, 14 February 2015, the Sanlam Cape Mile is an exciting open water swim.
