Manny Pacquiao enjoyed his first sparring session in the monumental build up to his historic mega fight against WBC welterweight and super welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather, on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The Pacman said: ‘After 13 days of strength and conditioning exercises at the Wild Card Gym , plus some training weeks in the Philippines, I finally had boxing practice. My sparring partners are helping me a lot. They are perfect to prove the strategy Freddie and I have developed in order to defeat Floyd. I was really happy today with my speed and stamina.’ The Filipino and Mayweather will finally happen on May 2nd.
It’s a bout the whole world has waited years to see. There’s a “modest” shared purse of 300 million dollars – a historic sum and the certain prospect that PPV records are going to be vanquished. Trainer, Freddie Roach added: ‘Many looked really fresh today. I’m really pleased with what he did. You can’t tell he’s been out of the ring since November. Manny is really motivated at the gym and that’s a good sign leading to triumph!’
