Manchester United thrashed Queens Park Rangers 4-0 at Old Trafford to record their first win of the English Premier League 2014/15 season. The home side started the match with more intent as they were looking for their first win of the season. On this occasion Louis Van Gaal opted to use a 4-4-2 diamond.
New signings Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo were in the first eleven and Radamel Falcao was on the bench with Van Gaal’s men controlling the match in the first twenty minutes. In the 23rd minute Angel Di Maria delivered a curling free kick and gave the Red Devils the first goal of the match. In the 35th minute Ander Herrera handed the hosts their second goal of the match.
It was 3-0 just before half-time. In the 44th minute Wayne Rooney puts his name on the score sheet. In the second half the home side continued where they left off as Di Maria linked up with Juan Mata as he put the ball in the net of QPR’s goal. The visitors were having a nightmare at Old Trafford and it looked like it could worsen in the 66th minute when the man of the moment Falcao replaced Mata.
The home side continued searching for the fifth goal. Falcao’s shot was saved in the 86th minute and Adnan Januzaj had a chance to score but
his shot went over the bar as the match ended 4-0.
