A Yaya Toure-less Manchester City side managed to beat Stoke City 4-1 in the English Premier League on Wednesday evening at the Britannia Stadium. Man City has been struggling in the absence of Toure, who inspired his country Ivory Coast to Africa Cup of Nations glory last weekend. The Citizens started off on a high note as they scored first through Sergio Aguero in the 33rd minute.
Five minutes later the home side would drew level after a Marko Arnautovic cross met a high-flying Peter Crouch to head it home. Manuel Pellegrini’s would eventually think that they had scored the winning goal in the 45th minute but Aguero’s effort was ruled out because he touched the ball with his hand. Just 10 minutes into the second half the champions would eventually take the lead courtesy of James Milner.
The home side tried to press for the equaliser but their chances of levelling would be dashed by Aguero as he scored from the spot to make it 3-1 to the visitors. Samir Nasri then put the cherry on top as he grabbed City’s fourth of the night to make the full time score 4-1.
