A double from Yaya Toure ensured a 4-2 win for Manchester City over Swansea City in the last stages of the English Premier League on Sunday. The hosts started well with crisp passes as Bafetimbi Gomis ran at the City defence on three minutes, having a shot from 20 yards out forcing Joe Hart to make a good save. David Silva had a chance to score from a free kick 25 yards out but his effort went wide.
The away side seemed to be in trouble at the back as Hart had to save attack after attack. A cracking pass from Frank Lampard saw Sergio Aguero finish in fine fashion, only for it to be disallowed due to an offside. Toure scored the breakthrough in the 23rd minute to put his side ahead.
James Milner scored the second goal in the 36th minute to silence the Liberty Stadium crowd. On the stroke of half-time, Gylfi Sigurdsson battered a brilliant shot past Hart as the teams went into the break 2-1 in favour of the Blues. The second half got off to a slow start, as both teams tried to mount attacks.
Fredy Montero was causing problems down the left with his pace and directness. Gomis levelled matters in the 64th minute but it didn’t last long as Toure snatched the lead 10 minutes later. Wilfried Bony scored in extra time to secure a 4-2 win over Swansea.
