UEFA Champions League holders Barcelona will have to work hard but will not be altogether unhappy about being drawn in Group E in this season’s competition. Barca is in Group E and meets Bayer Leverkusen, Roma and Bate in the pool phase. Manchester United has been drawn in a tricky Group alongside PSV Eindhoven, Wolfsburg and CSKA Moscow. On paper the Red Devils will be favourites but none of the away days, particularly the trip to Moscow, promises to be a walk in the park.
2014 champions Bayern Munich find themselves in a difficult Group F alongside Arsenal, Olympiacos and Dinamo Zagreb while the “group of death” title goes to Group D where Juventus, Manchester City, Sevilla and Borussia Moenchengladbach will do battle. Elsewhere, Group A consists of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Shakhtar Donetsk and Malmo. In Group C Benfica, Atletico Madrid, Galatasaray and Astana will meet.
Jose Mourinho will come up against his old club FC Porto after Chelsea was drawn in Group G alongside Dinamo Kiev and Maccabi Tel Aviv while Group H contains Zenit Saint Petersburg, Valencia, Lyon and Gent.
The first matches take place on September 15 and 16 and the round robin phase runs until December and 9. The top two in each group advances to the Second Round.
