Mamelodi Sundowns demolished Moroka Swallows 5-0 in the Gauteng Challenge Cup at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday morning. Sundowns started off the game with a high tempo and dominated the possession but failed to create any chance for a goal. The Brazilians opened the scoring before half-time with a goal from Alje Schut.
Katlego Mashego doubled the advantage to 2-0 to Pitso Mosimane’s boys after five minutes played in the second half. Swallows’ defence had a hard time blocking Rodney Ramagalela who came straight off the bench and registered his name on the scoreboard after hitting the bottom corner to make it 3-0 on 69 minutes. The Dube birds conceded a penalty on 72 minutes with Themba Zwane stepping to the party for the Brazilians and then bagged his brace to add more pain to Zeca Marques. The final score was 5-0 to Downs who will play SuperSport United or the University of Pretoria in the final on Saturday afternoon.
