Liverpool pulled off a convincing 3-0 beating of Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Sunday. Raheem Sterling gave the away side the lead after just eight minutes after a sublime pass from teammate Jordan Henderson. Spurs nearly levelled matters soon after Sterling’s goal but Simon Mignolet pulled off a wonderful save to deny Emmanuel Adebayor.
Just before the break Mignolet again proved to be a hero for the visitors as he tipped away Nacer Chadli’s ferocious effort. Newly signed hitman Mario Balotelli almost scored what would have been a debut goal after he received a cross from Daniel Sturridge but he headed the ball off the mark. Reds skipper Steven Gerard would hand his side their second early in the second stanza.
Gerard’s goal brought about stability within the Reds as they started to control the match soon after the strike. The home side tried to stage a comeback but it was the visitors who would wrap up proceedings as newly recruited Spaniard Alberto Moreno scored his first Liverpool goal as Brendan Rodgers and his men left London with all three points.
