Crystal Palace scored two late goals to defeat Reading 2-0 in the FA Cup quarter-final encounter on Friday at the Madejski Stadium. Palace wasted too many chances in the game until Yohan Cabaye and Fraizer Campbell both scored inside the last five minutes of the game to send their side to the semi-finals of the competition. Yannick Bolasie blasted the ball into the side netting and his other effort was wide before the Eagles finally netted.
Cabaye went close twice with well taken free-kicks but also to no avail. It proved to be a frustrating night for the visitors who were in control of possession but had nothing to show for it as the game went to half-time all square. Royals goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi produced a stunning save to deny Mile Jedinak earlier in the second half.
Alan Pardew’s players continued to press as Emmanuel Adebayor tested the goalkeeper but his shot was deflected for a corner. Jake Cooper clipped Bolasie inside the box and the referee called for the penalty. Frenchman Cabaye took it to give the south London club the breakthrough.
The hosts were finally undone when Campbell ensured his side sealed a comfortable win in the end and secure a semi-final spot.
