The 1st weekend of August 2014 will see the continuation of Ethy Mbhalati’s Benefit Year events. On 01-02 August 2014 the city of Polokwane will be invaded with cricket festivities at the Polokwane Cricket Club. The cricket weekend will end of with a Cocktail Party at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on the Saturday night.
Ethy Mbhalati, who was born in the Limpopo Province at the township of Lulekani close to Phalaborwa, started his cricket career through a cricket development programme in Phalaborwa. He went on to represent various provincial teams for Limpopo Impala Cricket (LIC) and attended the then Limpopo Cricket Academy before moving to Pretoria. The right-arm fast-medium bowler made his first-class debut for Northerns in 2002/03.
He has represented South Africa A and the South Africa Emerging side. Mbhalati became the first South African to take a hat-trick in franchise T20 cricket. In appreciation of all these achievements the Easterns Titans franchise has announced that The Unlimited Titans fast bowler, Ethy Mbhalati, has been granted a benefit year after spending eleven years with the franchise and, before that, with the Northerns Cricket Union. Ethy has partnered with LIC to have one of his benefit events in his home province.
Together they will host coaching clinics on Friday 01 August. Then have a 6’s festival during the day and a cocktail party on the Saturday night of the 02 August 2014. The 6’s festival will take place at the Polokwane Cricket Club between 4 sides, namely Limpopo Impalas , Unlimited Titans, Ethy’s XI and Ethy’s Mixed team.
The 6’s games will take place from 09:00-17:00 and the gates will open at 08:00. Later in the evening the players will suit up and head to the Peter Mokaba Stadium for the Cocktail Party. Ticket prices for the 6’s Festival are R50 and R200 for a VIP package.
The Cocktail Party will cost a person R350 and this includes meals, complimentary drinks and a chance to sit and mingle with Ethy, Titans players, former teammates and his celebrity friends. A cash bars will available throughout both events. Tickets will be sold at ticketpros outlets nationwide and also at the Limpopo Impala Cricket office from 20 July 2014. Limited tickets will be available for both events.
