Louis Oosthuizen, Jason Day and amateur Paul Dunne lead the 144th Open Championship at 12-under par going into Monday’s final round at St Andrews. The South African’s five-under 67, not only matched his Thursday score but, brought him into contention to win for a second time at the Old Course. Oosthuizen will fancy his chances, especially since he knows how to win at this course.
The 32-year old hit seven birdies and might have held the outright lead had it not been for bogeys at eight and 12. Australia’s Day also carded a 67 to sit atop the leaderboard while Irish amateur sensation Dunne shot a 66. The trio are just one shot ahead of Jordan Spieth, who has already won the Masters and US Open this year.
Former Open winner Padraig Harrington is a further shot adrift while a host of players find themselves three shots behind the co-leaders. This pack includes South Africa’s Retief Goosen Sergio Garcia, Justin Rose, Adam Scott and Zack Johnson.
